  • Obituary (Deceased Husband): Of Mary Kathryn Scroggins, 16 Jan 2004, Huntsville Times, Huntsville, Madison Co, AL, Mary K. Hawkins
    Died Jan. 6, 2004
Mary Kathryn Scroggins Hawkins of Huntsville passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday. She was 79 years old. Funeral services will be at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Perry County, Tenn., to Henry and Victoria Scroggins. She married Henry L Hawkins in 1944 and they loved and adored each other for 51 years before Mr. Hawkins passed away in 1995. They moved to Huntsville from Medina, Tenn., in 1957. A secretary by profession, Mrs. Hawkins was retired from Chrysler Missile Division. Mrs. Hawkins accepted Jesus Christ into her heart at a young age and served Him in many ways throughout her life. She taught Sunday school at First Assembly of God Church in Milan, Tenn. In addition to being a founding member of First Assembly of God Church on Bob Wallace Avenue in Huntsville, Mrs. Hawkins also loved the babies in the church nursery and served as secretary/treasurer for several years. Of the many other blessings in her life, Mrs. Hawkins' family was the one she treasured most. Her generous love, devotion and dedication to her family were endless. Mrs. Hawkins leaves behind one sister, Lucille Patterson of Milan, Tenn; a son, Donald Hawkins and his wife Charlotte; a daughter, Sharron Kay Hawkins, all of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Casey Caplin and his wife Antonieta, Lamar Hawkins, Catherine Kholanjani and her husband Saeed, and Ashley Hawkins and his wife Karen, all of Huntsville; and a greatgranddaughter, Arianna Kholanjani. Mrs. Hawkins' greatest desire the past few years was to be reunited with her adoring husband, and while her remaining family will miss her deeply, we are grateful that she slipped ever so gently and lightly from our embrace into His. Her spirit, like a bird no longer caged, has been freed to enjoy the splendors of Paradise forevermore with her beloved.
