    [The source publication of this obit is unknown, but suspected to be from the Alexander City area. A link to the image of the original is below. It was provided by a great-grandson of GT Scroggins (living in Texas) to Lester Schrader, who provided me with a copy.]

    Mr. G.T. Scroggins was born on Nov. 29, 1844, and passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.N. Brewer, on Sept. 4, 1924, following a short illness which he bore with great patience. After serving for four years in the Confederate war, he was married to Miss Mary Henderson Oct. 22, 1868...He leaves to mourn his death six children, twenty-four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. After funeral services were conducted by Rev. L.W. Nelson, his remains were laid to rest in Concord Cemetery.

    [Mary Henderson was the daughter of Alvin Henderson and Lucinda Jane Duck. Mary and George Scroggins reportedly had 12 children total, seven living as of 1900 Census. See link below for more info. At this point, I'm not certain which daughter married a Brewer but I have the names of eight children from the 1880 and 1900 Census records for Tallapoosa CO AL. --steve scroggins]
