    Mrs. Baker, died Friday, January 12, 2001 in Atlanta. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and well-loved by her family and friends. Mrs. Baker was a very active member in the Bethel Methodist Church in Bethune and Trenholm Road Methodist Church in Columbia. She was first married to the late James W. Baker of Bethune and then to the late Murray C. Hooker of Charleston and Columbia.

    Surviving are her children, Gloria Baker Scroggins, James W. Baker Jr., Thomas Rushton Baker, Atlanta, Dr. Robert M. Baker, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Frank L. Baker, Charleston and their families; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
