    Mary Katherine "K" (Scroggins) Hawthorne was born on October 15, 1924 in Rockdale, Texas. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 26, 2013 at her home in Porter, Texas surrounded by her loved ones.

    She retired from the Harris County Sherriff's department as a Deputy in February 1990.

    "K" was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Celwin Hawthorne; parents, James Richard Scroggins and Katherine Elsie Rutland Scroggins; siblings, James David "Jimmy", Captolia "Cappie", Lawrence Reginol "Larry", Claudine "Dutchie" and Dan Moody.

    She is survived by her children, Sue Calhoun and husband Donald, Belinda Mikeal and husband Ray, Judy Sanders and husband Jim, Frank Jr. "Buddy" and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Donnie Calhoun and wife Lori, Wendy Calhoun Erdman and husband Ben, Adam Mikeal and wife Andrea, Katie Mikeal Stohler and husband Justin, Amy Moore and husband Steve, Heather Wells and husband Jason, Frank Hawthorne III, Hannah Hawthorne and fiancé Jared Smith; great-grandchildren, Canton Calhoun and fiancé Kaylin Jones, Madi and Ashilyn Kellum, Fiona, Bryn and Lily Mikeal, Emma, Anabella and Ava Stohler, Tyler, Riley and fiancé Laura Forsythe, and Abbey Bosheers, Cole and Chloe Wells; great-great-grandchild, Aubree Reese Bosheers.

    She cherished her family, and lived to spend time with them. The world stopped when her children and grandchildren came to visit. She was quick with a joke and loved to laugh. She left us with such a legacy – and a big set of shoes for us to fill!
