Birth: May 24, 1924
Death: Feb. 28, 2007
Clara Doris Piep Scroggins "Miss Clara" Clara passed away peacefully after living a full remarkable life on February 28, 2007. She was a loving member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served happily for years in the ward library. She bore an unwavering testimony in God's love for each and every one of His children. Her calling in life was all about the children. Whether it was raising her own, grandchildren included, or opening her heart to the hundreds of children she cared for through her own daycare, Parkview Nursery School. She always saw the beauty in each child's eyes. Clara was born on May 24, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Fred and Klara Piep. She married her sweetheart Admiral Dewey Scroggins (Jack) on November 9, 1942, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 1, 1974. Clara was a strong, prominent business woman during a time when women did not run businesses. She proudly stood up for herself, her dreams, and for the ability to give all the children her love. For 40 years she made a difference in the lives of families, her employees, and her own loved ones. She loved to read any and all books. She read to her grandchildren endlessly and with the utmost patience. Clara was lucky enough to travel far and wide and across all seas. Anxiously we would wait for her return full of stories and of course souvenirs. Through her we also saw the world. Clara had many grandkids, but most remarkably she had 12 great-grandkids, who all developed a close bond with her. The twins, Josie and Julia, were the twinkle in Grandma Great's eyes. Chandler was her favorite ball player, Blaire was her miracle baby, Meredith challenged grandma with her wit and smarts, Olivia made grandma laugh with her big personality in her little body. Ian was her little man and Tylor was grandma's puzzle buddy. They will all miss her terribly. Clara is survived by her loving daughter LuAnn Lamont who never left her mom's side. LuAnn was always there to support and help her mom. Tom and LuAnn's children Amanda, Andrea, Aleena, and Andrew. Her daughter Sharon Allen, her children Rick, Dave, Maurisa, Rob, and Melinda. Granddaughter JaeLynne. Sister, Mary Ann, and brothers Bob and Jack. The family would like to thank all of her friends and neighbors especially Jay and Lisa Swain for their never ending care and concern. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, sisters Elsie, and Elizabeth, brothers Fred, Henry, George, and Ken, and granddaughter Melea. Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Redwood Memorial Mortuary at 6500 South Redwood Road. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Estates. Her motto "Eat chocolate, play in Wendover, love your family" Dear Grandma, some didn't understand our bond, which was often complicated, but you and I did. Love Amanda Clara.
