    Age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at his home in Lookingglass, Oregon. He was born May 23, 1934, in Stigler, Oklahoma, to Ruby E. and Bertha (McMahn) Scroggins, both whom are deceased. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served his country with honor as a boiler tender on the USS St. Paul. After returning from the service, he worked under contract for companies such as, Artesia Door Company, General Foods Corporation, Los Angeles Times, Sears, Western Industrial Maintenance and others, receiving many compliments for his excellence in performance and his professionalism. Charles moved from Southern California to Lookingglass in 1989, where he raised his horses, Par and Taco, as well as many dogs. He loved riding his horses all over the valley and hills around Lookingglass and in many parades. Rain or shine, he enjoyed riding his Yamaha motorcycle. Charles was a very talented man and received awards for writing poetry. One of his poems, ‘Old Glory Waving’, was read by Charles at a VA building dedication, which now hangs on the wall at the Roseburg VA Hospital. Upon his death, Charles requested his poetry be published through the Lookingglass Community Church. Charles is survived by; a sister, Elva and her husband, Les Johnson of Norwalk, California; stepbrothers, Joe; Don and Linard; stepsisters, Carol and Cathy, all of the Roseburg, Winston, Oregon area. He also leaves a stepmother, Violet Hesselgrave of Winston as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at the Lookingglass Community Church with Pastor Keith Williams officiating. A graveside service will follow with military rites offered by the VFW District Twelve Honor Guard. Arrangements are under direction of Taylor’s Family Chapel.
