    JAMES SCROGGINS

    Bastrop, La. -

    Funeral services for Mr. James Scroggins, 65, of Bastrop will be held at 2
    p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop
    with Bishop Kelvin Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at the Hughes
    Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.


    Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 16, from 5 until 8 p.m.
    at the funeral home.
    Mr. James Scroggins, a millwright by trade, was born September 1, 1943 in
    Crossett, Ark. and he died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Saint Francis North
    Hospital in Monroe.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Julis Robert and Cora Waits
    Scroggins; two brothers, Robert Martin Scroggins and Allen Scroggins; three
    brothers-in law, Henry J. Meeks, Victor Carter and James William Bounds; and a
    sister-in-law, Connie Ruth Griffis Scroggins.


    Mr. Scroggins is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie Wright Scroggins of
    Bastrop; a son, Carl Wayne Scroggins and his wife, Pam of Euporia, Miss.; a
    daughter, Belinda Corley and her husband, Jim of West Monroe; five
    grandchildren, Westley Scroggins, Heath Scroggins, Tonya Corley, Tiffany
    Corley and Talla Corley; two brothers, Howard Scroggins and his wife, Martha
    Jane Thornhill Scroggins and Floyd Earl Scroggins; six sisters, Myrtle Lee
    Scroggins Meeks, Agnes Marie Scroggins Carter, Deloris Irene Scroggins May and
    husband, Joe Alvin May, Hixie Sue Scroggins Bounds, Ada Beatrice Scroggins
    Nealy and husband, George Donald Nealy and Bertha Lou Scroggins Fortune and
    husband, Darwin Fortune.


    Serving as pallbearers are Calvin Johnson, Mike Scroggins, Tommy Scroggins,
    Aubrey Scroggins, Alvin May and William Scroggins.
    Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Wright and Shane Courson.

Jeff Smart officiating. Interment will follow at the Hughes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
    Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening, January 7, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Myrtle Lee Scroggins Meeks, a professional seamstress and homemaker, was born March 27, 1931 near Crossett, Ark. to the late Julis Robert Scroggins and Cora Lee Waites Scroggins. She died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Morehouse General Hospital.
    Mrs. Meeks is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Jasper Meeks; a son, Louie Emanuel, a stepson, Henry J. Meeks Jr.; three brothers, Robert Martin Scroggins, Allen Scroggins, and James Scroggins; a brother-in-law, James William Bounds, and a sister-in-law, Connie Ruth Scroggins.
    Mrs. Meeks is survived by three sons, Henry Marvin Meeks of Dallas, Texas, Mark A. Meeks of Houma, and Lee Roy Emanuel of Bastrop; a daughter, Mary Margaret Strickland of Houma; two stepdaughters, Fay Brown of Mena, Ark. and Kay Yarberry of Maumelle, Ark., two brothers, Howard Scroggins and his wife, Martha Jane Scroggins, and Floyd Earl Scroggins; five sisters, Agnes Scroggins Carter, Deloris Scroggins May and her husband, Joe Alvin May, Hixie Scroggins Bounds, Ada Beatrice Scroggins Nealy and husband, George Donald Nealy, Bertha Lou Scroggins Fortune and her husband, Darwin Fortune; two sisters-in-laws, Mary Ruth Scroggins and Bonnie Scroggins; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Scroggins, Michael Scroggins, Aubrey Scroggins, Ronald Scroggins, Alvin May, Zachary Meeks, Kile Martin, and Henry Marvin Meeks.

    Howard Scroggins, a heavy equipment mechanic and millwright by trade, was born September 9, 1938 in Mangham, Louisiana to the late James Robert Scroggins and Cora Lee Waites Scroggins. He died Sunday, May 24, 2009 surrounded by his family at his home in Bastrop. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Myrtle Scroggins Meeks; three brothers, Robert Martin Scroggins, Allen Scroggins, James Scroggins; sister-in-law, Connie Scroggins; two brothers-in-laws, James William Bounds and Henry Jasper Meeks.

    Mr. Scroggins is survived by his wife of fifty years Martha Jane Scroggins of Bastrop; three daughters, Virginia Loveday and her husband, Mike of Bastrop, Linda Etheridge and her husband, Larry of Saffell, Arkansas and their children Stuart, Ryan, Kristi, and Kevin; Doris McKithern and her husband, Stephen of Ruston, Louisiana and their children Adam and Lessie;
    a son, Aubrey Scroggins and his wife, Janet of Monroe, Louisiana and their children Ashley Delhommer and her husband, John and Brandon Clark; one great-grandchild Mason Delhommer; five sisters Agnes Carter, Lois May and her husband Joe, Sue Bounds, Beatrice Nealy and her husband Don, Bertha Lou Fortune and her husband Darwin; one brother Floyd Scroggins; two sisters-in-law Mary Ruth Scroggins and Bonita Scroggins; and a host of nieces and nephews.

    Serving as pallbearers are Mike Scroggins, Tommy Scroggins, Ronald Scroggins, Rodney Laughlin, Kenneth Laughlin, Tommy Morgan, and Alvin Wayne May.
