    EAST ALTON

    Dr. Linda L. Kleemann, 66, passed away at 8:16 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at St. Anthony's Health Care in Alton.

    She was born on April 24, 1946, in Berwyn, Ill., the daughter of Arthur E. and Viola (Krueger) Goldbeck.

    She was formerly married to Donald E. Kleemann. They were married in Lyons, Ill., on Dec. 27, 1969. He survives.

    Linda received a Bachelor's Degree from Concordia University, a Master's Degree from Southern Illinois University and her Doctorate from the University of Illinois. She was a professor at Harris Stowe State University for eight years, retiring in 2011. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, where she was past president of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Bethalto Kiwanis and had served as past president and a former Lt. Governor for Division 31. Among her many accomplishments, she was the former Dean of Education at Harris Stowe, the former director of NCATE, wrote a children's book in which she gave all the proceeds to Kiwanis, held book fairs and gave the proceeds to a school in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and a school in Haiti and she started a student group called TEACH. She was often a presenter at Educational Conferences all across the country. She enjoyed reading, traveling, especially to Chicago, Hawaii and Kansas City. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and hearing about their endeavors.

    She is survived by her children and their spouses, Joanna and Ryan Scroggins of East Alton, Nathaniel Kleemann of Rosewood Heights, Peter and Cherie Kleemann of Rosewood Heights and Jonathan Kleemann of Jacksonville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jarod Foiles, Kelsey Foiles and Taylor Scroggins; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Kathy Goldbeck of Bumpass, Va., and Herb and Shirley Goldbeck of Springfield, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Noah Kleemann.

    Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Mark Hofferber and Pastor Willard Meyer officiating.

    Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Bethalto.

    Memorials may be made to Kiwanis.
