Goldie Phillips

Funeral services for Goldie Mae Phillips are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Rev. Mitch Williams and Richard Winters are set to officiate.

Burial is to follow at Konawa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Phillips died Friday, June 7, 2002 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada at the age of 91.

She was born in Sasakwa on May 8, 1911 to Thomas and Mamie (Miller) Scroggins.

She married Hubert Raymond Phillips on Sept. 8, 1927 in Konawa. He preceded her in death.

Phillips was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Marlin Edward Phillips; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Faye Minter of Swanton, Oho; three sons, Raymond "Buck" Phillips of Ada and V.H. "Bill" Phillips and Hubert N. Phillips Jr. of Konawa; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Etta Howard of Holdenville.

Casket bearers are Harold Kinder, Harold Raper, Leo Lane, Junior Price, Orville Isaacs, and Herb Walker.

"Emma Louise Scroggin, age 87, of Morrilton, died April 1 at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County, Bentonville. She was born November 24, 1916, Morrilton, Arkansas. Mrs. Scroggin was a beautician for 34 years, a housemother at Massey Hall, Arkansas Tech University for two years, and a lifelong member of Morrilton First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Wesleyan Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, and the Get Up and Go Gang. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rev. David and Eleanor Scroggin of Russellville; daughter and son-in-law, Doylene and Bobby Fuqua of Bentonville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Kennimer Scroggin; her parents, Wylie Brown and Ollie Charton Brown Donald; her sisters, Clara Marie Eddy and Hazel Bunch. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 5, at Morrilton First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Scroggin officiating. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry, ATU Box 8668, Russellville, Arkansas 72801."

"ADA - Services for Junior L. "Doc" Scroggins, 78, Ada, are 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church, Dr. Rusty Fuller and the Rev. David Gray will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home. Mr. Scroggins died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1925, at Ada to Robert Lee and Irene Bingham Scroggins. He lived in the Ada area all of his life. He attended Cedar Grove Elementary School and Francis High School. He married Betty Gale Oct. 9, 1948, at Ada. Mr. Scroggins was a service repairman for OG&E, retiring in 1980 after 36 years of service. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Ada Fire Department, retiring after 20 years of service. He was affiliated with Trinity Baptist Church. He was also a member of the OG&E Pioneer Club. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping and playing dominoes. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two daughters, Janet Murray and husband Paul, Fort Worth, Texas, and Karen Helton, Pauls Valley; four grandchildren, Angi Rogers and husband Kelvin, Melissa Knight and husband Ethan, all of Fort Worth, Kim McCoy and husband Eric, and Zechariah Shippey, all of Pauls Valley; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
