Whole number of deaths returned and recorded for the year: Males, 67;
Females, 73; total, 140. This is five more than in 1877, and seventeen more than
in 1876. But it is forty less than in 1872, and fourteen less than in 1873.
This number is made up of seven widowers, fifteen widow, fifteen men leaving
wives, twenty-two women leaving husbands, and eighty persons who had never been
married; thirty-three (or 23 4-7 per cent.) of this number died in infancy, not
having attained their first annual birthday. Twenty lived beyond the allotted
time to man, and seven of the number attained and lived beyond the age of eighty
years. The two oldest being Rev. Isaac Jennison, aged 88 years,, and John
Keating, aged 96 years.
