My sixth great-grandparents Elizabeth NASS about 1716-1753 Krefelt, Germany to Ringoes, Hunterdon County, New Jersey and Heinrich Hirt LANDIS born in Alsace to Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. Elizabeth was the daughter of Reverend Johannes NAAS early minister of the Church of the Brethren in America. Heinrich LANDIS built a stone house in 1750 Amwell, New Jersey, which still stands and is a Registered National Landmark where Lafayette recovered after the ordeal at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War.

Johannes Naas broken marker

Seventh great-grandfather Johannes NAAS was born in 1669 Nordheim, Germany, died May 12, 1741 in Amwell, New Jersey. He came on the ship Pennsylvania Merchant September 18, 1733. Is buried in Moore Cemetery Sergeantsville, New Jersey about 2 miles northwest of Ringoes. His marker shown on right is broken and no words visible, although someone added a modern funeral home marker. He is discussed on pages 13-15 of the 1912 book "Some Who Led" by Galen Brown Royer.

He is on the list of the members who joined the German Baptist Brethren in Europe pages 54-70, Submitted by Ron Gordon. From "A History of the German Baptist Brethren" by Martin Grove Brumbaugh, Brethren Publishing House, Mount Morris, Illinois, 1899, reprinted 1961 are the following NAAS:
