| Notes for Rosario Charles SCIACCA |
Rosario was very talented. He knew how to write beautifully in calligraphy. He had a side job of making the diploma's for the local schools, and making other similar certificates .
During the Great Depression, Rosario and his brother Tony worked for Guiseppe Ponticello in his specialty food store at 215-217 Ash Street, in Syracuse. The store sold special Italian foods.
Rosario had continually badgered his father to buy plots at Assumption Cemetery. It wasn't until Rosario died that Salvatore bought eight plots for $530, price of care included, on Decem-ber 4, 1953. Salvatore wanted a statue for the burial site, but he didn't know what, so he asked Mary and she suggested the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which stands today as a memorial to the deceased members of the Sciacca family.
