Notes regarding the possible family of Thomas (4) Whaley Sr. and Eunice Hubbard.

According to the other earlier researchers and those with whom I have corresponded, Thomas (4) Whaley Sr. and wife Eunice Hubbard had sons Thomas (5) Jr. and also a Jeremiah. They had no further evidence as to what happened to Jeremiah,--location, time span, etc.. I have added Jeremiah J. b 2-1-1797 ?RI, NY or CT? (according to 3 different census listings), d 12-12-1870 Fulton Co IN to the family group of Thomas (4) and Eunice based on circumstantial evidence. He may or may not be the correct Jeremiah. He was located in the same places in both NY and PA as was Thomas (4) Sr and Thomas (5) Jr. Among the children of Jeremiah J were a son named Thomas J. and a dau named Nancy Eunice.

The John H. Whaley b 4-27-1787 RI, d 9-16-1870 Georgetown, Madison Co NY, whom I have placed in the family group of Thomas (4) Sr. as a possible son was also located close to the above named Whaleys. John H. enlisted in the War of 1812 at Schuyler, Herkimer Co where Thomas (4) Sr., Thomas (5) Jr as well as Jeremiah J. were all known to have resided at some time. The enlistment of Thomas Whaley Jr. Sept. 1814, John H. and Jeremiah J. Sept. 1, all at Schuyler, Herkimer Co NY, and all three in Capt. R. Root's Company is interesting. John H. m in Truxton, Cortland Co NY and was living there during the 1840 census as did Jeremiah J. in 1850. Madison, Onondaga, Cortland and Chenango counties of NY are locations in which John H. was involved and all adjoin. Herkimer Co is the 2nd county to the east of these. From 1855 to his death, John H. lived in Georgetwon, Madison Co NY. Among his children, he had a son named Thomas and a dau named Eunice. In his widow Mariba's application for pension for his War of 1812 service, 2 women are mentioned as having witnessed the marriage of Mariba and John H. on 2-24-1810 in Truxton, Cortland Co NY. They were Patience Out age 88 yr, resident of DeRuyter, Madison Co and Anna burdick, age 91 yr, resident of De Ruyter, Madison Co. From the 1855 NY state census, Patience Out was listed age 72, (b c. 1783) and born RI. In the 1875 NY state census, the death of Anna Burdick was reported . She was a widow, age 94 yr, b RI, d 3-4-1875 in De Ruyer. From the above statements, there is a good possibility that these 2 women could have been either sisters of John H. or sisters of Mariba or perhaps one of each. This is in way of explanation of my theoretical placement of Patience and Anna and John H. as children of Thomas (4) Sr.

According to the pension application papers of Jeremiah J. for his War of 1812 service, he and wife Almira were living in Georgetown, Madison Co NY from 1850 to 1856.

The 1790 Census record for Thomas (4) Sr. bears out the fact that he had 3 males under 16 (b bet 1775-1790) and possibly 2 daus. Again, all circumstantial-but this and all of the foregoing are something to be pursued in order to learn the facts and find proof of the exact members of this family.
