| Notes for John H. WHALEY |
It is still only theoretical that this person is the decendent of Thomas Whaley Sr.
John Served in the War of 1812-NY, enlisted September 1, 1814, Schuyler, Herkimer County New York, Capt. R Root's Company.28 He enlisted along with his theoretical brothers Jeremiah and Thomas.
** Descendant Veronica Cohan, has named 4 children who apparently died young: Henry, Sally, Eunice and William. Their birth dates are unknown and none were named in John's estate papers. If there were a dau named Eunice as well as a son named Thomas, this would be a major clue in trying to establish that John H. was indeed a son of Thomas (4) Whaley and Eunice Hubbard.
In the 1865 state census, Mariba was listed as parent of 12 children. Pension papers indicate that John and Mary B. had 2 children b prior to 12-24-1814 and that Norris H. was b. Nov. 1810. As of John's 1870 probate papers, only 6 children were living with Norris, Mahala and Stephen named as deceased.
