The panels bearing the names, erected in the pavilions to the rear of Heliopolis War Cemetery, replace the original memorial in Aden which was destroyed in 1967. The original memorial was destroyed during the Israeli-Egyptian fighting of the 1970s. HELIOPOLIS WAR CEMETERY contains more than 1,700 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War and a number of war graves of other nationalities. |
