James D. Shakespeare: Artist in Watercolours

Jim took early retirement from his career as an art teacher in 1986, and has devoted himself since to painting in watercolours. During this time he has exhibited extensively as well as having a number of paintings in private collections.

He has had one-man exhibitions at The Williamson Gallery, Lancaster, The Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool and The Dearden Gallery, Ossett. He was asked to participate in an Open Focus Exhibition at the Haworth Gallery, Accrington, and has twice been a prize winner at the British Watercolour Society Show, Ilkley.

Jim presently holds classes in drawing and watercolour, along with his wife Marion, herself a successful painter and illustrator, at the Frank Townend Centre, Cleveleys, near Blackpool.
