The Descendants of

Enoch Shakespeare

Enoch was born in 1750 in Dudley, the son of Joseph Shakespeare and Isabell Foley.

Among his descendants are Mark Bate, who together with a number of other miners from the Brierley Hill area set sail on the 'Princess Royal' and founded Nanaimo, in British Columbia. Mark was the grandson of Esther Shakespeare whose daughter Elizabeth Robinson married Thomas Bate. It was George Robinson, a cousin of Mark, who was in charge of the joruney to Canada.

Another descendant, Henry Shakespeare, emigrated to Australia around 1855.
