Simon Shakespeare

Simon was born 15 Nov 1884, and baptised at the
Primitive Methodist Chapel in Woodside. An older sister, Florence Ada, was
born 29 Aug 1882, and baptised 17 Sept 1882 at The same chapel. Their
parents were William & Sarah Shakespeare. William was a pipe moulder.
There were a number of other children. William is possibly the son of Benjamin Shakespeare and Elizabeth Brettle, who also had a son named Simon. Another clue here is that this William's brother Joseph, and his son Joseph were also both pipe moulders by profession. Simon married and had children, but details of them cannot be included here as at the time of writing two of them are still living. |
