Josiah Shakespeare

No baptism is recorded for Josiah Shakespeare. He has left a number of descendants, one of whom, Robert W Wilsmore, researching his wife's genealogy some years ago, has submitted information to the Church of Latter Day Saints Website - this information appears in 'Ancestral File.'

Communication with Robert Wilsmore including a telephone conversation (and a several letters) has revealed that the determination of Josiah parentage was, at best, 'a guess'. Given the small number of Shakespeares in the area at this time this is probably as good a guess as any, so the information is included in the file of 'Black Country Shakespeares' in accordance with this.

Interestingly, Robert's wife also has a descent from the Warwickshire family of Quiney, of of whom married the daughter of the Poet, William Shakespeare.
