Manor of Rowington

 
View of frank pledge with the Court Baron  John Sanders Gen (Lord of the said manor) in the same place there held for the same manor on 18th day of April in the 1st year of the reign of our Sovereign George by the grace of God of Great Britain
ffranc and Ireland King defender of the faith in the Year of Our Lord 1715 In the presence of John Sanders the younger Gen
seneschal in this same place.

 
At this learned Court it was found by the homage a certain William Briers one customary tenant of this manor recently
outside Court (viz) on the twenty third day of February 1712 surrendered into the hands of the Lord of the said manor through
the hands of  Benjamin Reeve the younger and William Averne two other customary tenants of the same manor and Attorneys
of the same with regard to that part of the custom in the same place All that his customary messuage or tenement with its
gardens orchards barns stables buildings and appurtenances overlooking the same messuage and one cultivated field called
the pingle adjoining the same orchard and one meadow called Old Meadow one other meadow called petoes meadow one
other meadow adjoining the same said orchard called the home meadow one other cultivated field called Barley Field one
other cultivated field or pasture called the home close with all and singular their appurtenances situate lying and being in
Turners End within the said manor and just now or recently in the tenure or occupation of the said William Briers his Assign or
Assigns And comprising by estimation three parts of one virgate of land with all trees paths pools commons commodities
overlooking the same premises To the use of Richard Briers eldest son and heir apparent of the same William Briers for and
during the term of his natural life (without impeachment of Waste) and after his decease Then to the use of Elizabeth his wife
for the term of her natural life and after the deceases of Richard and Elizabeth themselves then to the use of the heir of the
body of the same Elizabeth having been born or to be born to the aforesaid Richard or for default of such issue Then to the
use of the rightful heirs of the same Richard for ever according to the custom of the same manor In Addition to which into
this Court came Richard in his proper person and desired to be admitted tenant to the said premises with appurtenances to
whom the Said Lord through his said Seneschal granted seisin to the said premises with appurtenances by the rod according
to the custom of the same manor To Have and to hold the same premises with appurtenances the same Richard for the term
of his natural life and after his decease Then to the uses as delimited earlier according to the custom of the same manor by
an annual rent of ............ and all other works burdens customs and services therefore due and of right Accustomed
Whence It Fell To The Lord for a heriot over the said transfer by Composition a sum of four pounds and fifteen shillings paid
to the Lord's Bailiff and for a fine paid here in Court the sum of ........... (being the yearly rent for the said premises)
according to the custom of the same manor and so was thenceforth admitted tenant And the same Richard did fealty to the
Said Lord In testimony to which the aforesaid seneschal appended his seal and signature on the day and Year previously
stated above
