The Manor of Rowington in The County of Warwick
to wit
At
a Special Court Baron of William Grove Esquire Lord of the said manor
there held for the said manor on Wednesday
the Twenty Sixth Day of ffebruary in the 28th year of the Reign of King
George the Second ec. and in the Year of Our Lord
One Thousand Seven Hundred and ffifty five before Christopher Wright
Gentleman Steward there.
Whereas
at this Court it was found by the homage that Elizabeth Randall Widow
formerly the Wife of Richard Briers and late
one of the Customary Tenants of this Manor died since the last Court
seised for the term of her natural Life of the Messuage
and Lands hereinafter mentioned and that the same were settled in
default of Issue by the said Richard to the right heirs of
the said Richard for ever according to the Custom of the Manor and that
William Greenway of Butlers Marston in the County
of Warwick aforesaid yeoman is Eldest Son of Ralph Greenway deceased
who was the Eldest Son of the Sister of William
Briers ffather of the said Richard Briers deceased and that the said
William Greenway is heir according to the Custom of the
Manor as appears by the Oath of Mary the Wife of John Reasen of
Rowington aforesaid yeoman
Now
to this same Court
came the said William Greenway in his proper Person and in open Court
desired to be admitted Tenant to

that one
Messuage with the Barns Stables Orchards and Gardens and the "hempleiks"
to the same belonging and also one Close
called the Pingle adjoining to the said Orchard and one Meadow to the
same belonging called Old Meadow one other
Meadow called Petoes Meadow and another Meadow adjoining to the said
Orchard called the Home Meadow and one Close
called the Barley ffield one other Close pasture called the Home Close
and another pasture called the Windmill hill Close with
all and singular their appurtenances all which premisses are now in the
Tenure or Occupation of Thomas Smith or his
Assignes lying and being in Turners End within the said Manor and
containing by Estimation three quarters of a yardland to
whom the Lord by his said Steward hath granted Seisin thereof by the
Rod
To have and to hold
the said Messuage Closes
Lands Tenements hereditaments and premisses with their and every of
their appurtenances unto the said William Greenway
his heirs and assigns for ever according to the Custom of the said Manor
by the yearly Rent of four shillings and ten pence
and all other Works Burthens Customs and Services therefore due and of
right accustomed whereupon fell to the said Lord
for a heriot on the Death of the said Elizabeth Briers the best living
Cattle for which Composition was made at .............. and
he paid to the Lord for a ffine for such his admission four shillings
and ten pence according to the Custom of the said Manor
and is admitted Tenant thereof and did ffealty to the Lord.
