Eleanor Tompson, died 1637

Wroxall

In the name of God Amen. I Ellianor Tompson of Wroxal in the County of Warwick  widdow being perfect memory doe ordaine this my last will and Testamt. Imprimis I bequeath my soule to god my savior in whose mercy & merit only I hope to bee saved, and my body to Xstian burial in Wroxal Church-yard. And as for  the goods the Lord hath lent mee, I thus dispose them, Tenne pounds to the Minister of Wroxal being a preacher, to be lent him at his entrance; and a bond taken from himselfe by the churchwarden, for the repayment of the same at his death, or departure, for  the like use of his Successor in the preaching of word. Alsoe to my kinswoman Christian Wright tenne pounds and one of my kine. And to her sonnes Clement, Thomas, Joseph, Nicholas and Throgmorton and her daugher Anne ffive pounds a peice. And to her sonne Job three pounds, to be put forth for their use by my Executr within one whole yeare after my decease until each of ym shall attain one and twenty yeares apiece. But to her son Robert, my boy, I give twenty pounds to bee put forth in like manner. And my best bedstead ffeatherbed and Coverlett, and boulster, two b;ancketts, two peire of sheets and curtaines & curtaine rodds to bee chosen for him by my overseers, & pserved by my executr for him until he come forth of his Apprentishippe. Item I give unto John Guy twenty shillings, And to my cozen his wife, ffoure pounds, and to his children twenty shillings apeice. Item to Katherine Brockhurst of Tanworth twenty shillings. And to Mary Bree forty shillings. Item I give to Mr Ephraim Huitt forty shillings & to his wife my two downe-pillowes, and to each of his children twenty shillings apeice. Item to Samuel Greswold three pounds, & to his olde Mother twenty shillings, And to his daughter Margery twenty shillings. Allso to Susannah Dandy twenty shillings. And to her mother my mayde one fflockbed, one course paire of sheets, one blanckett. Likewise to Alice Winmill twenty shillings and to Joane Pheasy twenty shillings. And to my sister Scott & my sister Tompson five shillings apeice, to buy each of them a paire of gloves. Also to Thomas Guirdler and Mary Saunders my God-children 6s 8d a peice. Also to Samuel Annely 20s. To John Cookes 20s tp Mordecai Shakespeare 20s. And to Abraham Curtis fforgive the debt hee oweth me, and give him 20s more. And to Luke Rogers I give 20s and one fflockbed, one couse paire of sheetes one blanckett. Allsoe I give twenty shillings for the preaching of a sermon at my buryal, wth last office I request my Minister Mr Huitt to performe. All wch legacies I will should bee paid within one halfe yeare after my decease. The sole executor of this my last will, I ordaine Jonathan Weale of Tanworth my Kinsman, unto whom I give twenty pounds, and the rest of my Goods and chattles I give (my legacies & funerla disharged) unto Joane Guy, Elizabeth Weale, & my said Executr to bee indifferently devided among them. And to overseers of this my last will I name Mr Ephraim Huitt & William Smyth my cozen, and to each of them I bequeath twenty shillings apeice. Blessed be God Feb. 10, 1637.

Postscript. I bequeath to William Smyth 10li to bee disposed at his discretion. To Christian Wright my best gowne, & best green apron. To Joane Guy five pounds and my best red petticoate, my best holland apron & my second best brasse kettle. To Nicholas Weale fourty shillings; and to his wife my flannell petticoate. To Elizabeth Weale tenne pounds and my best stuffe petticoate, and a flaxen apron. To Katherine Brockhurst my ould flannel petticoate, and a new green wastecoate, and my second hatt. To John Onely an ewe and a lamb at his choyse, and to John Hooke another ewe and lamb, to bee chosen and kept for him by his ffather; and to little John Guy the ffeatherbed, boulster and bedstead I use to sitt on by the fire. Againe published as my last will, before us aforemenconed.

Memd. The occation of this Transcript was the satisfaction of Mr Whyte Minister of Wroxal, being a copy of the will of Eleanot Thompson by which she bequeaths Ten pounds to the curate of Wroxal to be lent on their bonds from time to time.
