John Shakespeare,of Rowington,1574

Dated 26 June, 1574. No. 74.

  • Body to be buried in churchyard of Rowington.

  • To Thomas Shakespeare my son £20.

  • To George Shakespeare my son all my free land in Shrewley called Madge Wattons.

  • To George my son and Annis my daughter all the wood now growing in Madge Wattons.

  • To Annis my daughter 20 marks.

  • To Nicholas my brother 10s. and one stryke of wheat and one stryke of malt.

  • To my aunt Ley the mydwyfe a legacy.

  • To the poorest householders of Rowington 5s.

  • To Elnore my wyfe all my goods & cattell and she sole executor.

  • William Cowper and my brother Thomas Shaxpere overseers.

Proved 1574.
