Hamburg Cemetery is located just east of the small hamlet of Hamburg, California, and is located on Highway 96 near the Klamath River.  To reach this cemetery take the Highway 96 exit off Interstate 5, approximately ten miles north of Yreka, California.  Follow the highway toward Hamburg.  As you near Hamburg watch on the left side of the highway for a small, hand-painted cemetery sign.  Yes, there is a cemetery up there among the trees, brush, poison oak and mosquitoes.  There is room to pull off the highway but you must walk into the cemetery.  There is no recognizable layout.  Just follow the myriad of trails around until you find what you are looking for.  As a suggestion, wear long pants and boots.
