Horse Creek cemetery is located across the Klamath River from the "town" of Horse Creek.  Horse Creek is approximately 30 miles west of the Interstate 5 and Highway 96 interchange just north of Yreka, California.  To reach this cemetery drive west about 30 miles on Highway 96 from Interstate 5.  After going through the town of Horse Creek watch on the right for a bank of metal mailboxes.  They are right in front of a bridge that crosses the Klamath River.  Cross the bridge (carefully, as it is rather scary) and stay on the dirt road for approximately four miles.  Watch the hillsides on the right and you can't miss this quaint but small cemetery.    There are three gravesites enclosed in white wooden fences.  I searched but could not find any markers.  You must walk up a trail about 100 feet to reach the gate.  Be sure to latch it when you leave!

We received an email from Kathie Bailey who is related to the Morgan and Maplesden families.  Ethel M. Morgan (Maplesden) was Kathie's grandmother.  She told us that she had records for the cemetery from 1968.  The following additions to this cemetery are made based on those records.  As an added snippet, Kathie informs us that it was her brothers who erected the arched 'Horse Creek' sign over the entrance to the cemetery.  We would like to thank Kathie for the addition to this listing!
