Lloyd E. Davis 1914-1977

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lawncrest Chapel in Redding for Lloyd E. Davis of Redding, a retired sawmill sawyer.

Davis died Sunday at Mercy Medical Center in Redding.  He was 63.

Born June 20, 1914 in Redoak, Okla., he had lived in Shasta County for 15 years.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He leaves his wife, Orlee of Redding, and three sons, Lee Edward and Edward, both of Redding and Larry E. of Washington.

The Rev. Ron Huson of the Assembly of God Church of Hayfork will officiate at the services.  Burial will be in Lawncrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at Lawncrest Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Orlee Davis 1925-1985

Services for Orlee Davis, 60, of Redding will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Lawncrest Chapel in Redding.

The Rev. Ray Larson of Bethel Church in Reddng will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lawncrest Chapel in Redding.

Mrs. Davis died Wednesday in Shasta General Hospital of natural causes.

She was born March 30, 1925, in Oark, Ark., and moved to Shasta County in 1962 from Hayfork.  She worked as a waitress for 25 years and was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons; Lee of Redding, Larry of Bakersfield and Edward of Redding; two sisters, Marvie Brown of Arkansas and Lynette Rogers of Pennsylvania; four brothers, Elbert, Floyd and Phil Mooney, all of Arkansas, and Joe Mooney of Hyampom; father Ernie Mooney of Arkansas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lions Eye Foundation of Redding.

Lawncrest Chapel in Redding is handling arrangements.

Amanda B. Bidwell 1878-1946

Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1946

Services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Colusa for Mrs. Amanda B. Bidwell, 89, of Cassel, who died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles B. Silvey in Colusa.

Mrs. Bidwell's parents came to California over the Oregon trail in 1847, and she was born in Polk Co., Ore.  A Shasta county resident for 85 years, she came here in 1861 and married Christopher C. Bidwell in Millville May 1, 1878.  Bidwell died in 1935.

Mrs. Bidwell had been spending the winters with her daughter in Colusa.  Surviving also are four other children:  Mrs. Edna Heryford of Hat Creek, Lola G. Bidwell and R. E. Bidwell of Cassell, and Mrs. Ethel M. Smyth of Santa Barbara.

Following the services, the body will be taken to Marysville for cremation.

George Dewey Clough 1914-1947

Wed., May 28, 1947

George Dewey Clough, 33, was killed instantly when his truck overturned at the foot of a downgrade 10-1/2 miles east of Millville on Highway 44 about 5:40 p.m. yesterday.  Clough was found by two men pinned beneath the cab, his head and chest crushed.

The highway patrol reported that the accident was probably caused by failure of the airbrakes.  Both truck and trailer, which were traveling west, were loaded with lumber.  Several hours of work were required to remove the body.

Clough was a native of Deer Park, Wash., and had resided in this vicinity for the last 10 years.  He was in the lumber transportation business.  He leaves his wife, Cathryn Clough of Redding; a daughter, Laurie Ann Clough; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Clough, and a sister, Mrs. Peggy Wagner, all of Monterey.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in McDonald's chapel with the Redding lodge of the Masons officiating.  Burial will be in Redding cemetery.

Florence Hatler 1924-1927

Florence Hatler, three years old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin B. Hatler of Gerber, died at the family home Tuesday morning at 1:30 o'clock and was buried yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Red Bluff.  Mrs. Maud B. Hatler of Redding, grandmother of the child, attended the funeral, as did Mr. and Mrs. S. Stickles and V. M. Hatler and family.

The Hatlers formerly lived in this city and were married here.  Hatler is an employee of the Southern Pacific Company in the Gerber yards.

Milton C. Tiffin 1879-1884

Little Milton C. Tiffin, son of Frank C. and Lizze Tiffin, died at Redding on Tuesday last, aged five years and sixteen days.  Poor little Milton; his pure soul has gone to the realms of the blest, where sorrow comes no more.  His sorrowing father and mother have the sympathy of many friends in their sad bereavement.

Mabel Clara Stanley 1881-1964

Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Clara Stanley will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at McDonald's Redding Chapel.  The Rev. J. G. Duckett will officiate.

Mrs. Stanley leaves her husband, James E. of Redding, two sons, Robert W. of Redding and Lloyd of Madison, S.C.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Lawncrest Memorial Park.

Bessie Jones 1880-1920

Mrs. Bessie Jones, 40, who died in Napa June 1, will be buried in this city Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Houston undertaking parlors.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Missouri but came to Shasta county when quite young and was a resident of Del Mar while here.

The decedent leaves a husband, Leon Jones of Weed, and two daughters, Thelma, 15, and Elsie Jones, 16, also sisters--Mrs. Charles House of Redding, Mrs. Nathan Arnold of Sacramento, Mrs. Conklin of Whitmore, Mrs. Robert Gibson of Martinez and Mrs. Catherine Andree of San Francisco.  There are two brothers in Redding--Lee Reid and Charlie Reid--and one in Marysville--William Reid.

Clarence William Rankin, 54, former operator of The Gables resort, died of a heart attack last night at Lakehead, where he was employed as a Southern Pacific truck driver.

A one time Marysville clothier, he came to Shasta county seven years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle; a son, William of Yuba City; a brother, Ray, of Paradise; and three sisters, Mrs. Jennet Ruiz and Mrs. Mary Burst, both of Marysville; and Mrs. Margaret Graves of Yuba City.  He was a member of the Marysville lodge of Elks.

The body is at the Meininger funeral home.

Services for Delbert Freeman DeWolfe, 66, of Redding will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at McDonald's Redding Chapel.

The Revs. Sam Post and Tom Lucatorta will officiate.

Burial will be at Redding Cemetery.

Mr. DeWolfe died Wednesday at his home.

Born Oct. 29, 1918, in Jacksonville, Ore., he moved to the north state 33 years ago.

He was a millworker for 40 years.

He is survived by sister Lucille Arnold of Jacksonville; and brothers Charles of Salem, Ore., and Irvin of Medford, Ore.
