Mrs. Elizabeth Maxwell, 78, mother of Dr. E. M. Pike and William Howard Pike of Redding and Central Valley, died yesterday at St. Caroline Hospital, where she had been a patient more than three weeks.

She was a native of LaPorte, Plumas county, born Aug. 9, 1866.  The past four years she had made her home with her sons here.  She also leaves three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at McDonald's Chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m.  The Rev. Thomas L. Kilpatrick will officiate, with interment in Redding cemetery.

Robert Edward Meyer Sr.  1918-1980

Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1980

Services for Robert Edward Meyer Sr. of Redding will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lawncrest Chapel.

The Rev. Roger Young will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will be in Lawncrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Meyer died Sunday at Mercy Medical Center.  He was 61.

Born Oct. 19, 1918, in Havana, Ill., he came to the Redding area in 1966 from southern California.

He was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local 3.

He is survived by his wife, Augusta of Redding; sons, Robert Jr. of Redding, Rayman of Burney and Melvin M. of Fort Richardson, Alaska; daughters, Beverly of Redding, Peggy G. Johnson of Chino, Birdie I. Brazil of Mountain Gate and Patricia Ann Dillon of Bellflower; brothers, Donald of Lakewood and Charlie of Long Beach; and 15 grandchildren.

Perry Francis Daily 1861-1945

Friday, March 9, 1945

Perry Francis Daily, 83, a resident of Shasta county more than 70 years, in the Shingletown and Anderson communities, died last night at his home in Anderson.

He was born in Preble county, Ohio, Dec. 3, 1861, and when a youth 13 years old, accompanied his parents to Anderson.  Until his retirement from business, he was a sawyer, employed by various lumber companies.

Daily leaves his wife, Mrs. Bertha Mae Daily of Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Emmons of Cottonwood and Mrs. Mary Binner of Willetts; two sons, Warren and Otto Daily of Anderson; and six grandchildren, three of whom are serving in the armed forces.  One, Cpl. Warren Daily, Jr., of Anderson is in the Philippines, and Pfc. Arthur F. Daily and Pfc. LeRoy Daily, also of Anderson, are in France.

Funeral services will be at the graveside in Anderson Masonic cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday with a Methodist minister officiating.

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura B. Long, 88, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Lawncrest Funeral Chapel in Redding.

Mrs. Long was a housewife and a past member of the Anderson Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Long had been a resident at the Redding Convalescent Hospital since Aug. 20, 1968.

She leaves her son, Robert D. Bailey of Redding; one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.

Friends may call at the Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Lloyd Aaron Russell of Anderson died at his home Saturday.  His body will be sent to Conger-Morris Funeral Home in Medford, Ore., by McDonald's Chapel.

Russell was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Washington, and had become a resident of Shasta County one month prior to his death.  He was 48.

He leaves his wife, Marjorie of Anderson.

Erwin F. Brose 1898-1972

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hesse's Funeral Chapel for Erwin F. Brose, 74, of Redding, a retired Shell Oil Co. employe.

Brose died from natural causes Friday at Memorial Hospital in Redding.

The Rev. Noble Streeter will officiate at the services.  The remains will be cremated at the Sierra View Crematory in Marysville.

Brose was born in 1898 in Hartford, Wis.  He was a veteran of World War I and had worked for the Shell Oil Co. for 30 years.  He had lived in Shasta County for five years.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Michellene E. Brose of Redding.

Leo Francis Tierney 1905-1973

Funeral services for Leo Francis Tierney were to be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Fall River Mills Community Methodist Church.  The Rev. Martin Murdock was to conduct the service.

Tierney died Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Redding.  He was 68.

A five-year resident of Shasta County, Tierney was a retired electrical foreman of 30 years.  He was a member of the Fall River Community Methodist Church and the Nitosa Lodge No. 204.  He belonged to the F and AM in Asotin, Wash.

Tierney leaves his wife, Edna of McArthur; three sons, Robert L. of Anchorage, Alaska, Richard A. of Tahoe City, Calif., and Ronald C. of McArthur; two daughters, Mrs. Jeane Anna Rashe of Livermore, and Mrs. Flora Long of Anchorage; a brother, Bernard W. of Oakland and ten grandchildren.

Burial will take place in the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Verna Fader Morton 1903-1972

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lawncrest Funeral Chapel for Mrs. Verna Fader Morton, 69.

Burial will be in the veterans plot of Lawncrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Morton was found fatally wounded by gunshots at her home in Redding Aug. 30.  She died before she could be taken to Shasta County Emergency Care Center.

Shasta County Coroner Joseph Kohn said the matter is still under investigation.

Mrs. Morton was born in South Dakota.  She had lived in California 55 years and had lived in Shasta County for eight years.  She was a retired Los Angeles schools art teacher and once owned a motel in Shingletown.  She was also a veteran of the Womens' Army Corps, with World War II service.

She leaves her husband, Frank Morton, of Redding.

Happy Camp--Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the All Saints Catholic Church for Harvey R. Weeks, 37, of Happy Camp.

Weeks was fatally injured Thursday when the car in which he was a passenger plunged over a 300 foot embankment near Happy Camp.

The Rev. Father Anthony Gurnell will officiate at the services.  Burial will be in the Happy Camp Cemetery.  The Gardner Funeral Chapel of Yreka is in charge of arrangements.

Weeks, a construction worker, was born in Santa Barbara.  He was a member of Redding Local 137 of the Teamsters Union.  He had lived in Happy Camp for seven years.

He leaves his wife, Norma Jean Weeks and his mother, Mrs. Walter Johnson, both of Happy Camp, and two stepbrothers, Paul Johnson of Brisbane and Richard Johnson of Redwood City.

Manuel Varela 1919-1978

Funeral services for Manuel Varela of Central Valley will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at McDonald's Redding Chapel.

He died Friday in Memorial Hospital.  He was 59.  He was born Sept. 17, 1919 in Sonora, Mexico.  He lived in Shasta County 58 years.  He was a track supervisor for the Southern Pacific Railroad 43 years.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Redding, a charter member of the California Cavemen's Club, the Central Valley post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central Valley.  He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

He leaves his wife, Hope of Central Valley; two sons, Max of Anderson, and John of Fernley, Nev.; four daughters, Sheila LaCoste of Redding, Dottie Rodriques and Maxine Sage, both of Anderson, and Christina of Central Valley.

He also leaves four brothers, Jesse and Billy, both of Vacaville, Victor of Central Valley, Joe of Illinois; two sisters, Josie Martinez of Sacramento, Rose Murr of Vacaville; his mother, Maria Sandoval of Vacaville; and five grandchildren.

Burial will be in Redding Cemetery.  The Rev. Michael Turner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate at the service.
