Hunstanton, Norfolk

Universal British Directory 1791

Hunstanton, four miles [from Snettisham is] noted for its high cliff and light-house. It is nearly south of St. Edmund's Cape, on the shore of the washes; it was at first a royal tower only, built by St. Edmund, who retired to it for near a year, that he might get the whole book of Psalms by heart.
