James and Mary Ann MIMMS

James MIMMS was born on 8 Oct 1838, the son of James and Ann MIMMS (née WINFIELD). James died in late summer 1914 at the age of 76. I have more information on this family thanks to the splendid book written by my cousin Peter MIMMS. |
Mary Ann WOOD was born in 1844, the daughter of George Wellington and Frances WOOD. Mary Ann died 16 Jun 1913 aged 79. |

I am in possession of a studio portrait of James MIMMS, taken by a photographer named W.J. Compton. I wonder if this is her son William's work? William COMPTON was brother to Elizabeth who married Polly's brother John Henry Winfield MIMMS. (see below). Click here for more about this family. |

| Frances Hannah | b. 1869. Married her brother in law, Jonathan WEEDEN in 1894. They had 3 children by 1901. George, Jonathan and Elsie. In 1901 they were living in Aldershot. By 1911 they were back in Bermondsey. Additional children born after 1901 were Herbert (1904), John (1907) and William (1910). |

| George Joseph | b. 1872. Aged 10 in the 1881 census. Aged 19 in 1891, when he was an inmate in St Olave's workhouse. Died later that year. |
| John Henry Winfield | b. 1874. Married Elizabeth(Lil) COMPTON in 1897.They had 10 children. Living in Bermondsey in 1901 working as a leather warehouseman.

| Florence Louise | 1880-1925. Married Henry SMITHSON in 1905. They had 4 children: Florence (who died in 1918 aged 11), Lena (b 1915 and is still alive), Doris and Gerald. |
| b. c1882. Married Mary Ann MEDCALF in c1907. They had just one son, Albert George in 1908. Albert was the landlord of The Prince of Orange PH in Rotherhithe.
Albert George married Ivy FROST in c1935. They had 2 children, A. and J. Albert died in 1996.
