John Henry Winfield and Lil MIMMS
John Henry Winfield MIMMS was born on 6 Aug 1874, the son of James and Mary Ann MIMMS (née WOOD). Always known as Jack. He worked initially as a porter for Meggeson's Pharmaceutical Works. (described himself as druggist on his marriage cert). Later, he worked as a carman, and drove a brewer's dray for a brewery, delivering casks of beer to London pubs. Even later, he was involved in the City of London River & Docks Regatta, working with his uncle Mat Wood. He died 1952 at the age of 78. |
Elizabeth COMPTON was born in 1876 to William & Elizabeth (née FRAMPTON). William was a wharf warehouseman. Her brother William married her sister in law Mary Ann MIMMS in 1889. She also died in 1952 aged 75. |
