Console Review: Pandemonium 2 (bmg interactive) playstation. (Features)
One of the weirdest games to have appeared on the Playstation in recent times is Pandemonium. Now you can enjoy some more mayhem with its successor, Pandemonium 2.
For those unfamiliar with the original, you control either Fargus , a psychotic jester, or Nikki, a lycra-clad acrobat. You travel across a series of psychedelic pseudo-3D worlds, jumping from platform to platform, killing baddies with the aim of finding "The Comet of Infinite Possibilities". Along the way you collect tokens which, if you gain enough of them, will give you access to a bonus level where you can ride on a surf board down a railway track.

Gordon's Brown's terrible place in history.
ABIGAIL Wild does not give us our money's worth (A penny for your thoughts, December 2). Some of us can remember when a penny bought something, and half-a-crown (121/2p) was a fortune. Today, for all of us who have to use the stuff, the currency has simply lost its value, and should be replaced by the euro as soon as Gordon Brown wakes up to the fact. Never mind the ''ballasted drunk'' - yesterday's plea for our weighted pockets: it's the seams we should be worried about, if we had to mend 'em.

Sunday Herald (Glasgow, Scotland), August 17, 2003 p8Readers'views. (Letter to the Editor)
AS a practising Catholic I wish to correct some of the ill-informed criticism of recent pronouncements from our Church authorities. Muriel Gray's piece says it all: people simply half-read second-hand accounts then misquote what they think the original said and react accordingly (Seven Days, August 10). First the Roman Catholic Church does not discriminate against the sexuality of any of its members. Second the Catholic Church is - as it must be - a disciplined church. The recent documentation No To Legal Same Sex Partnerships defines what marriage is in the eyes of the Church, and in that context it advises Church members holding positions of responsibility in the making of our laws on how they should respond to recent proposals regarding contracts between persons of the same sex. For the Church believes, rightly or wrongly, that it has a divinely ordered mission to the world which God created, and to communicate, in the context of Christian love, God's teachings to the whole human family. THE Rev Archibald Hugh Fargus must have been looking down with a tear in his eye.
For 104 years his one and only place in cricket's record books had remained safe. His 12 for 87 for Gloucestershire against Middlesex at Lord's was the best match-bowling return by any player on his county championship debut.
Then along comes Heath Streak to lodge 13 for 158 on his bow for the Bears against Northamptonshire. Suddenly the Reverend's claim to fame was a mere second-best.
Actually, Fargus couldn't complain too much bearing the mind the colossal stroke of luck he had enjoyed after hanging up his cricket boots. The Bristol-born vicar went on to serve as acting chaplain on the Monmouth in the First World War and one day in 1914 he was due to sail with it only to miss his train and, therefore, the ship.
On November 1, 1914, the Monmouth went down with all hands. Lucky Archie.
