/Elkenny 		Robin explains: "Searching For Estelle(a) McKAY.  She married Jim (James) BRADLEY in New York 1881.   She later married Minot AUSTIN.  She was born in New York 1863.  Possibly around Buffalo.  Died 23 Apr 1942 WA.  They had three children that Robin knows of:  1) Ada Fannie BRADLEY b.25 Jun 1888 NY d. 14 Apr 1959 CA; 2) Harry BRADLEY b. NY; and 3) Carlton Henesy BRADLEY b. AB.1881 NY, d. 28 Jun 1949 WA.  There were three McKAY's listed as pallbearers at her son’s funeral: Ray McKAY, George McKAY and Clarence McKAY.  He is buried in Vancouver, Clark, WA.  Ada had two McKAY's listed as pall bearers: Fred McKAY and Clarence McKAY.  She was buried in Chelatchie, Prairie Cemetery Chelatchie, Clark, WA.  Update 1 December 2004:  "I now know from Estelle(a)'s death certificate that her father was a Thomas McKAY and her mother was a Louise FRANK. Still dead ends to me but maybe someone else might know something. Several people have tried to connect them up or me but I'm not sure. I haven't had much time to devote to this at life gets busy. I baby sit two toddler grandchildren so have to wait for nap times to work on things. I enjoy reading the information you all pass on. Thanks"

He was one of the children Mehitable brought from Sorel, Quebec to Ontario after Samuel's death. I have all the papers documenting the land grants they applied for from the King of England, and were granted. Anyway, he was the father of Stephen Walker Buck, born 1803 Edwardsburgh, Ontario, married 14 Jul 1825 to Catherine Kingsland who was born in Johnstown, Fulton, New York and has been a wonderfully fun line to follow. They both died in Edwardsburgh, Grenville, Ontario. Their son that is on my line is George Stirton Buck, born 1845 (Apr 10) and he is the one who emmigrated back to the U.S. His son is Stephen Walkley Buck born 29 May 1876 in Lost Nation, Clinton, Iowa, and married Jennie Belle Welsh in 1900. They homesteaded in Flathead valley near Kalispell, montana, where my dad, George Edward Buck was born 1902. Hope all this clears up to you who I am. I also have tons on the Bucks backwards, back to James Buck, 1555."

/Alexander /Elkenny 		For ten years, I believed that Simeon's son, Benjamin MCKAY was my gggrandfather.  In the 1850 Venango County Census Simeon MCKAY (Alexander's son) was listed, along with his son Simeon Jr. and Silas.  Also in that census was Benjamin MCKAY, my gg grandfather, and his brother Lafayette MCKAY.  It turned out, that Simeon's son, Benjamin, never lived in Venango County, but moved on to Iowa, and eventually on to Colorado.  My Benjamin's father appears to be a David MCKAY, that lived in the same neighborhood as Medad MCKAY and Seth MCKAY (two of Alexander's sons), in the Niagara area of New York. I believe they are all in the 1830 census of the Niagara area. This David was born about 1790-1805, and married a Charlotte SHERWOOD, who was born in Canada.  We do not know for sure if David was born in New York, Canada, or Scotland.  I believe that he was an illegitimate son of Medad MCKAY.  He is not in the James Adolphus McKay Genealogy.  Because these two families seemed to always be in the same places at the same times, I have stayed close to this list, looking for any connection. In the obituary of Lafayette MCKAY, he said that his grandfather's name was Richard.  If that be true, I might be looking for a Richard, rather than a David.  Benjamin's obituary, and that of his sister Fannie Matilda McKay SALSGIVER, refer to him as David.

She married one Samuel BUCK in 1762 and had three children.  Because they were Loyalists they moved to Canada settling first in Sorel, Quebec where Samuel was killed in a skirmish while in the militia and later in Upper Canada or what is now the province of Ontario.  They settled in the small community of South Mountain which is about 40 miles south of our national capital, Ottawa.  Asenath BUCK , the eldest daughter married John BALDWIN of South Mountain in 1801.  They had a son John who had a son Thomas who had a daughter Lillian who married Dr. W.F. MITCHELL and they had me.  There are still Baldwin's in the 'South Mountain area as well as across Canada and the U.S. who are descended from this line."

I have been able to trace her ancestry back to a Silas W. McKay. We found a short biography of Silas which states he was born in Ulster Co., NY in Sept. 1823. He Lived in Ulster Co. until he was 21 years old. He died in Duncannon, Daughin Co., PA after having served in the Civil War for Illinois and Pennsylvania. I am having zero luck finding any information about Silas' parents. The early census records of course do not list children and birth records were not kept in Ulster County at that time. I have paged through all the 1830 census sheets for each town in Ulster county and found a Sylvester McKay in Wawarsing (This is the only McKay in the entire county!) This Sylvester fits the age bracket for the Sylvester Jr (born 1801) individual listed in James Adolphus McKay's Genealogy of the McKay Family. The Sylvester Jr. in the book is the youngest son of Sylvester (Elkenny /Alexander /Sylvester /Sylvester Jr.). The census record also lists a child that could be Silas. Silas goes on to have a son Sylvester. So, I feel somewhat strong that the Sylvester McKay in Wawarsing is Silas's father. But other than the fact that the age bracket fits that of the Sylvester from JA McKay's book and the commonality of the names Silas and Sylvester from the book, I have no concrete way to tie into the Elkenny lineage. My father-in-law figures its a "done deal". I'd like something more. In JA McKay's book it is noted that nothing is known of Sylvester Jr. other than his birth and death dates. Does anyone have information on Sylvester Jr.? I haven't seen anything posted in the archives but maybe I've missed something. Any guidance or incite would be greatly appreciated.
