• He worked from circa 1805 to 1807 as a silversmith in Newburyport MA
  Though well-trained at his craft, he proved an inept businessman, neglecting his trade and was cheated out of a large part of his capital. He went to New York for a time, then was appointed Director of the Mint in Caracas, where he died in the massive earthquake of 1812. ²
