  SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,869, dated September 27, 1892.
  Application filed June 20, 1892. Serial No, 437,380. Term of patent 7 years,
  
  To all whom it may concern:
  Be it known that I, Albert A. Bushee, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Buttons or Studs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, illustrating the same.
  In the drawings, Figure 1 is aside elevation of a cuff-button made in accordance with my design. Fig. 2 is an under side view of the button. Fig. 3 is an elevation of the button, looking toward the end or point of the heart-shaped shoe.
  The distinguishing characteristic of my design resides in the peculiar configuration of shoe or back, as represented in the accompany-ing drawings.
  A denotes the top or face, and B the shank, of the button. The shank is flat and widened out at its upper end, as seen in Fig. 3.
  C denotes the back or shoe of the button, which is connected to the stem in any preferred manner. This shoe is elongated in a direction transverse to the width of the shank and is of generally-lenticular configuration, formed in the shape of a heart, as represented in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The edges of the shoe are rounded, as shown at c in the drawings, and the surface of the same is curved gradually and regularly from the raised center b laterally to the sides, as seen in Fig. 3, and longitudinally to the top and end, as shown in Fig. 1. The under side of the shoe, where it connects with the shank of the button's provided with a slight swell or enlargement, as at a. This enlargement has also a raised center and is curved laterally and longitudinally toward its edges, where it joins onto the back of the shoe in substantially the same manner as the shoe itself.
  Having thus described my design, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is—
  The design for buttons and studs, substantially as shown and described.
