• On his way to Virginia, He was forced into Hyannis, MA by a storm. While the ship was being repaired, he walked to Barnstable via Phinney's Lane. He elected to stay on in Barnstable and became one of the town's leading merchants. He was responsible for setting up the Barnstable Institution for Savings, and held the office of Treasurer for 45 years. ³
