General Notes: William H Whitcomb, aged 77 years, passed away at his home on Meader street, February 16th after months of suffering. He was one of our most highly esteemed citizens, a man of sterling Christian character and worth. He was born in Waterford, Maine, July 6, 1850, the son of William E and Elizabeth Whitcomb. He had been a member of Fryeburg Lodge I O O F for more than 50 years. He was a constant attendant at the services of the Congregational Church of this village until feable health kept him at his home, but was always interested in the work of the church. During his shut-in days he enjoyed the sermons delivered by Reverend Milligen of Portland, over the radio, and requested that Reverend Milligen preach at his funeral which he did. The funeral was held in the Congregational Church, Sunday afternoon, and despite the cold weather, a large circle of relatives and friends were present. Eagle Lodge I O O F were present in a body. Reverend H W Dubbs, pastor of the church, assisted in the service. Several appropriate selections were sung by Mrs Mabel Welch and Miss Marjorie Goodwin. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, showing the high esteem in which the deceased was held in the community. He leaves a wife, Mrs Eleanor Whitcomb, who has tenderly cared for him during his long illness and who has the sympathy of the entire community in her bereavement. He is also survived by on sister, Mrs Florence W Potter, widow of the late Reverend F C Potter of Portland. The body was placed in the tomb at Hillside Cemetery.

General Notes: Funeral services for Mrs Ellen M A Moulton, 76, wife of Moses S Moulton, were conducted Monday afternoon in the Hurd funeral home. Mrs Moulton died last Friday night at her Main street home following a long illness. ReverendHarrison W Dubbs, pastor of the Congregational church of North Berwick, conducted the services. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery. Mrs Moulton was well acquainted with the history of the town of Sanford. She took great interest in historical research and instituted the Bennett Family reunion. She was one of the two surviving members of the old Congregational church at South Sanford. The ancestors of both Mr and Mrs Moulton were among the first settlers of the town. The Moultons on both sides are related to the oldest families in the town. Mrs Moulton was a charter member of Arbutus Temple, Pythian Sisters, and Benapeag Chapter, D A R. She was also a member of Maine's Three Quarter Century club. Besides her widower she is survived by a grandson, Arthur Whitcomb and a brother, Walter E Bennett of Houston, Texas.
