Roxie Reed Cemetery--Town of Massena--MS050

Roxie Reed Cemetery is located on the Massena Center Road, which is also County Route 42. If you take Willow Street in Massena towards Alcoa, this street becomes Massena Center Road. Also you can turn off East Orvis Street onto Alcoa Road (and cross the Alcoa Bridge), and turn right onto Massena Center Road. The cemetery is 2/10's of a mile beyond the bridge towards Massena Center. The cemetery is shown on the Raquette River 7.5 minute topographical map (but not named), and the measured coordinates are 44 56 37 North and 074 52 11 West.

There are more than fifty four burials and the first burial that I found was in 1812 (Abigail Dow) and the last was 1931 (Philip Carbino). There seemed to be three variations of the name Carbino in this cemetery. Also, there was a military plaque of a Revolutionary War Patriot, Pvt. Samuel Chamberlain, who died in 1823. (According to "Heroes of the American Revolution" published by the Nihanawate Chapter of DAR, he was married to a Bethiah Winslow, of whom I found no indication that she was buried here also).

There were ten stones so badly deteriorated or broken that almost no information could be taken from these stones.
