Buck's Bridge Cemetery--Town of Potsdam--PO015

Buck's Bridge Cemetery is located on Cemetery Road which intersects with County Road 14 in the hamlet of Buck's Bridge. (Buck's Bridge is located between Canton and Madrid and the Cemetery Road is a very short dead end street). The cemetery is shown on the Morley 7.5 minute topographical map, and the measured coordinates are 44 42 14 North and 075 09 30 West.

"Heroes of the American Revolution" (published by the Nihanawate Chapter of DAR) shows that the Revolutionary War soldier Pvt. Isaac Buck Jr. is buried here. His stone is just barely legible at this point (August 2000). The book indicates that Isaac was married to Sarah Hall, and that his date of birth was 1763 and his date of death was 1845. On the stone, his date of death seems to be October 22, 1847.

One hundred sixty six stones were photographed, 249 individuals at least are buried here, and 33 of the stones were not legible. The first burial that I could find was December 21, 1806 (a son of Isaac and Sarah Buck, died at age thirteen) and this stone is a slate stone that is in excellent shape considering the age of the stone. A photo of the stone is included in the photos of the cemetery.
