A MORE NOBLE GROUP NEVER MET

Another beautiful Florida day...temperature holding in the low seventies, clear, and fair. Ed, and Carl pulled up right alongside Gene Si. in the nearly deserted parking lot of the Captain's Grill, Dick zooming in a second later in his pearl-white Caddy. Ed had chauffered Carl, and on the way Ed presented Carl with a calender, each month displaying a different picture of a WW2 Liberty ship. Henceforth, Carl, or Carlos, editor of this newsbrief, will have his dates straight. The four entered through the impressive glass doors exactly at 1130 sharp, the restaurant staff enmasse greeting them, and showing them to their exclusive section of the establishment. After much bowing, and scraping, the terrible four got seated, Terri our hostess for the day dispensing the coffee, and then rushing off for Carl's Vodka on the rocks. Dick then passed around his custom-made e-greetings in printed form. Click hereif you didn't get one, and he'll zap one off to you. A few minutes later, starting with Earl, Gary, Dennis, Bill V., and Kurt showed up. Earl dug into his manila envelope, and passed around printed copies for all to see of recent additions to the home pages, and newsbriefs. This is an exciting time for the restaurant staff who aren't online, but had their photographs taken the meeting before.
After all the show, and tell, the group got down to jabbering, and it is at that point that all intelligent recall of what was said, or discussed was lost...the cacophony being to much. The meeting adjourned at 1310, milling around outside for a few minutes more before all departing their separate ways.

Gene Si. Returns From Brooklyn

Gene returned from several weeks visiting family in Brooklyn, and while there, meandered down to Shore Parkway at the foot of 69th Street to be precise, to take some photos of the construction of the new 69th Street Pier. For those of us of the "Army" days, and early MSTS days, when "Lant" headquarters were in the Brooklyn Army Terminal, 69th Street Pier was a familiar landmark.
