USING THE CONSOL

consol_sample.jpg

The large graphic above ( sample - it doesn't work ) depicts The Consol - buttons for playing, and stopping music, and sounds used as backgrounds, or themes for these home pages. Such music, or sound can be programmed to automatically start, or only start on request - clicking the left button...which is the case on this page.
Where more than one selection is offered, it is best to stop, or pause that sequence by clicking on the right button - "killing" it, and then clicking on the left button of the next selection you want to hear.
To hear the oscillating sound made by Derby's FO, click the left button on the consol at the very top.
These home pages are built mostly with fun in mind, so music, sounds, and graphics all play a part in them. If you enjoy such things in a site, you may want to add a sub-woofer to your sound system. Be advised that the volume varies for different selections, but can be adjusted by opening the speaker icon on your tool bar, and making adjustments with the slide bar there, as well as on the speakers themselves. Some keyboards also feature a sound knob, and mute ( kill ) button. Be also aware that there may be volume control on the sound card - only accessible from the back of the computer.

ROCK THE BOAT

These two sequences ( MIDIs are called that ), are of music popular in the mid seventies...about the time I moved into the "COMPOUND".

The Compound, developement, community...whatever, is small, comprising a little over one-hundred small dwellings, each averaging about 1700 square feet of living space. Most are on canals, with a few dozen not "water front". It's a toss-up on how many are retired, but there aren't too many children, summizing most are retired blue collar.
Ordinarily quite quiet, giving one the impression it's a place to house those in the "witness protection plan", on occasion the stillness is shattered by someone running their outboards out of the water. Mum is the word, most occupants being either very secretive, or just waiting for the next life, playing it close to the vest...afraid they might be "found out". Ha Ha.
Originally started in the late sixties for housing those in the then booming "Space" programs, there are still some vacant lots available for developement. One nice feature is that all wires, and utilities are below ground, and except for two ham radio antennas, nothing obscures the sky except trees, and lamp posts.
