The Buccaneer...a floating hulk. What's the significance?
The significance was that this hulk didn't make for easy hook-up...see dock, and valves lower right hand corner of photo. This was in Hastings On The Hudson at the Socony docks. It was floating alright, as it's poop deck housing was considerably higher than our main deck when we first came alongside loaded. I took a cursory tour of the hulk's interior, and that night, being familiar with the layout, went aboard, and placed myself by a port hole. When the second mate walked by, I put my flashlight under my chin, and said: "Boo"...scaring the dickens out of him.
