Darrell Chester Harclerode, 84, of Sterling, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 in Sterling of natural causes. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Termant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, at Tennant officiated by Jay Littlefield. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Harclerode was born on June 6, 1916 to David and Mabel (Ache) Harclerode in Oakley, Kan. He grew up in Sterling and graduated from Sterling High School. After graduation he drove trucks for a couple of years. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 29, 1943 in Denver and was discharged on Feb. 28, 1946 as a Staff Sgt. He returned to Sterling and resumed truck driving. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 20 in Sterling and enjoyed golfing. Mr. Harclerode is survived by three sisters, Ila Struck, Luella Headley and Alberta Lamb, all of Sterling; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. Memorial contributions may be madeto the Darrell Har clerode Memorial Fund, in care of Tennant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1547, Sterling, Co. 80751.
