NOTE:From Gail on 6/9/2005) I checked with one of my aunts about Austin. He was definitely older than his sister Annette, who is the same age as my aunt. I wonder if someone might have estimated his age to the census taker as "13" and somehow the "1" got dropped? Who knows. ******
Gail E. Belytschko writes (5/2001):
Much of the following is taken from a small self-printed booklet compiled by my grandfather: The Ancestry of Hiram S. Eisenhart and his wife Matilda nee Beidler by Amber C. Eisenhart, Escondido CA, 1967. I have found some errors, but most is OK.
My granddad and his brother Rollin were not close due to the age difference and having been raised separately. Their mother died in 1900 when G-pa was 10 and Rollin just 14 mo. old. G-pa was taken to Philadelphia to live with an aunt, Kate Eisenhart Zeiner, and the younger boys were raised in the Spring Valley PA area by their maternal grandmother Annie Gangewere. Although their father soon remarried, their stepmother did not take to the boys, so there was a rather sad family estrangement. My G-pa returned to Spring Valley as a teenager, but never lived in the same household as Rollin, and eventuallymoved his family to CA in 1920.
I do not know where Rollin and Stella are buried and since neither lived long enough to collect Social Security they are not on the SSDI. Their son Austin spent some time in CA and I remember seeing him as a child. G-pa notes that he was a WWII vet. Again I do not know where he is buried, but presume it is in PA as I have checked the CA death index and he is not listed. His sister Annetta married Joseph Blum Jr. (b. 12-16-1924). He is listed on SSDI--date of death 1-22-1997. No listing for Annetta so I presume she is still living, ? in PA, but don't know that for sure. Their children are Joseph III b. 3-10-1949, Patricia b. 10-26-1954 and Cynthia b. 11-22-1959.
