Mildred M. Smith, 94, of Bethlehem, died Sunday, January 30, 2005 in her residence. She was born on Sept. 18, 1910 in Bethlehem, daughter of the late Clark and Katie (Vogt) Sergent. She was the wife of Michael B. Smith. Married on July 2, 1938, they were married for 66 years. She was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church, Bethlehem. She was very active in the church and received the Pro Ecclesia Medal from Pope John XXIII in 1959. She was also active in the Young Matrons from the YWCA.

Survivors: Husband; son, Brother Michael A. Mickey Smith, C.S.C. of Wilmington, Delaware; daughter, Kathryn Bonnie Frederick of Bethlehem; two grandsons, Scott Frederick and his wife, Vilma, and Kevin Frederick and his companion, Angie Smith.

Services: will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2005 in the Connell Funeral Home Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. in Holy Infancy Catholic Church, Bethlehem. Calling hour will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial, Holy Saviour Cemetery.

Clifford M. "Sarge" Sergent, 83, of Bethlehem, died June 1 in his home. He was married to Choko (Nishida) Sergent for 52 years last month.

He worked in the street department for the city of Bethlehem Department of Public Works for more than 25 years before retiring in 1983. He also was a part-time bartender for local bars and clubs.

Born in Fountain Hill, he was a son of the late Clark and Katie (Vogel) Sergent. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Born in Hellertown, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Minnie (Wasser) Moyer.

She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Allentown.

Survivors: Daughter, Jacqueline J., wife of Robert W. Jeffrey of Allentown, and three grandchildren.
