     John Sexton and Robert Sexton had bought land in Lunenburg Co in 1759. Robert sold his in 1765, Charles sold John's in 1772.

John Saxton bought 135 acres of land in Lunenburg Co Va on 3 Jul 1759 Lunenburg Co Deed Book 5 pg 416

The Church Wardens of Cornwell Parish were ordered to bind out Benjamin, Archibald, William, Elizabeth and John Sexton, orphans of John Sexton on 12 May 1763.  Lunenburg Co Court Order Book 9 pg 41

Charles Sexton sold the 135 acre farm on 23 Mar 1772   Charlotte Co Deed Book 3 pg 145

In 1783 a James Newell on a treasury warrant took possession of 300 acres on Rock Creek of New River to include the improvements of Will, Benjamin, Charles and John Sexton.  Montgomery Co Entry Book B pg 27

I'm not sure about this following, if this were the same John, he moved east from Augusta to Lunenberg Co. between 1742 and 1763. Not a normal pattern, but I offer it, just in case.

Bartlet Green witnessed a will in Lunenburg Co in 1759. He witnessed a deed in Bedford Co in 1774. He also served in Lord Dunmore's War in 1774, was on the dellinquent tax list in Fincastle Co in 1773. Last found in Montgomery Co 1790 kin the same area he was in when it was Fincastle, the area that later became Grayson Co. Have nothing on his family, but believe he may have been a father-in-law to Charles Sexton who named a son Bartlet. Bartlet Sexton was born abt 1775. Hope this helps

Ordered that the Church Wardens of Cornwall Parish bind out William and Elizabeth Sexton orphans of John Sexton deced to Peter Rawlings according to law.  From other entries he seems to have been a prominent planter."

    William served in the 2nd, 10th and 14th Virginia Regiments.  He volunteered for the army May 1776, enlisted at "The Royal Oak", a plantation owned by the Campbell family, for two three year terms, served 3 years and then went home for a furlough. While on furlough, he fell off his horse and broke his shoulder and kneecap. (Could this have been when his first wife died???) He paid Mr. William Street $200 and a suit to substitute for him in the army. He received an honorable discharge and credit for 6 years of service. He applied for a pension Jul 6, 1826 after his house and everything in it burned. William b. Feb 11, 1747 Augusta Co., VA, lived in Grayson Co., VA, 1800 moved to Whitley Co., KY, had 10 sons and 2 daughters, d. Dec 31, 1830, buried in Alsip cemetery on Cumberland Falls Rd.

Ref Scotch-Irish Settlements in VA, Vol 1, Augusta Co Court Records Jul 17, 1787 William Sexton reported as refusing to give in their taxes to commissioner:

He appears on a 1794,1796,1799, land tax and personal property tax list.  Also, William and Leah sold land to Pryor Saxson (Sexton) on Mar.27,1798,67 acres for 100.00 in Grayson Co. William, John, Prior, Archibald, and William Sexton all settled on Rock Creek in Grayson Co. ==============================================

Jan 26, 1794  Committee to view a road beginning at a road that leads to the mouth of Elk Creek to the Furnace Road at Sexton's Branch, the nearest and best way to where William Sexton's path comes into said road... Ordered that Peter Kittering be appointed surveyor of the road where William Bournee's path that leads from his house to the furnace crossing goes into the Elk Creek Road to where it joins into the furnace road, and thence with John Poole's sch. John Poole, Jr., Thomas Austin and Henry Hiltain clear out and keep in repair. Ordered that a bridle way be established from William Bourn's to the top of the ridge which divides the waters of Cripple Creek and Brush Creek where the path crosses the same near William Gleason's. That William Bourn be overseer and allot the hands.

I Samuel R Cavins Clerk of the Probate Court in and for the County of Greene, in the State of Indiana, do hereby certify, that it having been made satisfactory to appear that Esom Sexson, late of said County has recently died intestate, leaving his estate in a condition requiring immmediate administration thereof, and that in pursuance of the form of the statute, in such case, made and provided administration of the goods and chattels, rights credits moneys and effects which were of the said Esom Sexson, at the time of his death is granted unto Joel Sexson the first, until the next term of said Probate Court, and the said Joel Sexson is [??] administer the same according to law, he having taken upon himself the requisite oath as such administrator, and executed his bond in the penalty of two hundred dollars with Hugh S Livingston his security, conditioned as the law directs.

John Cornwell, a resident of County and State aforesaid ... that he is 55 years of age past, and is the son-in-law of Mary Ann Sexton, widow of John Sexton ... that he married the daughter of the aforesaid John and Mary Ann Sexton in Grayson County Virginia in the month of 1810. That his wife Judah or Juditha never had any record of her age ... that she had a record made upwards of 20 years ago in the aforesaid County of Grayson, ... and from the recorded age of Elizabeth Terrel who was born and raised in the same neighborhood that his wife the aforesaid Judith was born in, both having been born within a few days of the same date, to wit July 13th 1794. ... That he has heard ... the aforesaid John and Mary Ann Sexton declare that they were married in the County of Bedford State of Virginia ... He knows they have lived together as man & wife up to the 11th July 1844 on which day ... John Sexton died in the County of Green ... widow still resides in said County"

Notes for Pryor Sexton:   There is no proof that Pryor is with this family, Willis did not find him on the VA Lunenburg Co Court Order Bk 9 12 May 1763. He does theorize that " As youngest, might he not have been left with mother if she was still alive? He was in the New River area at least 1793 until death in 1834."  As he was still nursing, this is very probable.

WILLIAM EATON also attested a deed on 4 Nov.1811 in Grayson Co,VA between PRYOR SEXTON & WM.SEXTON,SR "of the Co.of Knox & state of KY..."

                          Thomas Sexton Gallion was a bee keeper in Virginia. He joined the troops of Capt Hale in the War of 1812. While he was away from home, a neighbor stole his bee hives and his lively hood.  When he returned from the war he confronted the neighbor and they came to blows, Thomas having killed the neighbor. Fearing for his life, he fled to Kentucky,where he assumed the name Gallion (taking mothers's maiden name or so we believed). He married twice and raised a large  family. Owned property, worked for county but lost all to carpebeggers during the Civil War.  Name change was filed in court when Thomas had to appear to claim bounty land and proved that he was Thomas Sexton.
