Jan Pieterse Van Woggleum

Jan is listed in the census of Staten Island, by Stillwell, his age is given as 62. The exact date of the census is unknown.

Jan Pieterson Mackelyck and wife Styntien Janssen joined the Brooklyn church on 13 May 1670, six years after their marriage.

Jan Pieterson made two wills, the first dated 4 Sep 1682 abstracted in "Calendar of Albany Wills", by B. Fernow, page 444 f. #1966, citing Albany Notarial Papers 2:404. This will was not probated since he recovered to live 36 more years. He stated that he was born in Amsterdam, that his wife Stintje Jans was born at Ootmars and is living at Kil van Kol, near Palman Mills on Staten Island. Mentions unnamed children and names sole heiress and executrix.

Stintie and husband Thomas Pursell were on a deed and their son Jan's baptism in 1698 at Port Richmond was witnessed by Stintle's sister Grietje.

His will dated 30 March 1712 probated 22 Julyl 1713, called him John Woglin Jr. , of Staten Island.  He names eldest son Dowe Woglum; wife Blandia; children Dave/Dowe, Cornelius, John, Christina [aged 15 in 1719], Sytie [d before 1718] and Blandia. Witnesses - Cob Corson, Joel Van Pelt, and Oswald Foord.

SON - Adriaen [Ury/Ary] Witnesses at Adriaen baptismal 1678 were Thomas Verdon and Agatha Jans.  25 Mar 1715 at Bergen as Ary Van Wouglin, y.m. from Staten Island, Seleyntje Preyed, y.d., from Bergen, living at Ahasemus. [This is his wife Celia Pryer given in "Old Families of Staten Island", by J J Clute, 1877, pg 102.

Styntje "Christina" Jans

Styntje Jans became a member of the Albany church at the end of 1683 but must have died soon afterwards, since Jans Pieterson Mackelich married his 2nd wife in 1685.

Ootmarsum in the Province of Overyssel is near the German border.
