Clarke(e) Family Home Page - GA, NC, VA, England

Clarke Family History

This site features information about the Clarke family that is known to have resided in the Burke county area of Georgia from the mid-1700s to present day.

While the family name is generally known to be spelled with the ending "e", it is believed that it was spelled as both Clark and Clarke over the last 200 years.

I am always seeking additional information about this family and any assistance would be welcomed.

Please view my research at the following links.

Clark Will - Large file 674 KB - This file is 674 KB in size...please allow time for downloading.  It is comprised of 5 pages which were scanned at 300 dpi.  The document is in the original handwriting and requires some practice to read it.  Christopher Clarke details disposition of his land to his wife and each child and signs the will with his mark (X). Note that the Clarke last name was spelled without the "e" in beginning of document but last page appears to have it written with an "e".

During my research I compiled a lot of information about Elijah Clarke and his family.  While I have not established a link between my ancestors and this family, I will make available my research.  I am enclosing a portion of that research on this site.  I have many unpublished letters by Elijah Clarke from late 1700s to early 1800s for which I have received publication rights from University of Georgia. I will publish these letters within the next few weeks.
