Second Generation

Thomas Seon BYRNE

Catherine Florence O'CONNELL ( Patrick , Austin )
Catherine was born on Saturday 4th December 1858 in Beudys Flat, Victoria.
Catherine was the daughter of Mary HAYES and Patrick O'CONNELL.
Mary was aged about 35 years and Patrick was aged about 45 years.

Catherine was the 8th of 10 children , 4 boys and 6 girls.
Catherine's siblings were John (b1843-d1903) , Michael (b1845-d1880) , Catherine (b1848-d1848) ,
Mary McGRATH (b1849-d....) , William (b1854-d1854) , Ellen Christina SMITH / COULTER (b1856-d1916) ,
James (b1857-d1857) , Bridget (b1860-d....) and Annie (b1865-d1865).

Catherine was raised with her siblings in Irishtown, in the Victorian goldfields.
Catherine was 1 of 5 siblings born in the Sandhurst District, in the Victorian goldfields.
Three siblings died in infancy, whilst the family was living in the Sandhurst District.
They were William died 1854 aged 9 months, James died 1857 aged 10 weeks and Annie died 1865 aged 7 months.

Catherine was aged 8 years, when her mother, Mary died in April 1867 in Irishtown, aged just 44 years.

Catherine's sister, Mary married Patrick McGRATH in 1868 in the Sandhurst District.

Catherine was aged 11 years, when her father, Patrick died in March 1870 in Irishtown, aged 57 years.
Catherine's other surviving siblings were John aged about 26 years, Michael aged about 24 years,
Mary aged about 20 years, Ellen aged about 14 years and Bridget aged about 10 years.
John, Michael and Mary probably helped raise Ellen, Catherine and Bridget.

Catherine eventually moved to Balranald, New South Wales.
Catherine probably moved to live with her older siblings.
John, Michael and Ellen all moved to Balranald.

Thomas Seon BYRNE
Thomas was born Monday 25th December 1848 in the Bay of Biscay, on the voyage to Australia.
Thomas was the son of Bridget BOLGER and John BYRNE.

in 1876
in Balranald, New South Wales.

Catherine was aged about 27 years and Thomas was aged about 37 years.

Catherine and Thomas had the following children :

John died in 1900 in Sydney, New South Wales.
John was aged about 22 years.

4 M Thomas Walter BYRNE was born in 1887 in Wilcannia, New South Wales.
Thomas died on 8th February 1891 in Wilcannia, New South Wales.
Thomas was buried in the Wilcannia Cemetery. Thomas was aged 3 years.

5 M William Ignatius BYRNE was born on 3rd January 1891 in Adelaide, South Australia.
William died in 1916 in Katoomba, New South Wales.
William was aged about 25 years.

6 F Eileen Ellen BYRNE was born on 3rd January 1891 in Adelaide, South Australia.

7 M Francis Walter BYRNE was born on 13th July 1897 in Adelaide, South Australia.
William died in 1956 in Sydney, New South Wales.
William was aged about 59 years.

Thomas Seon BYRNE died in 1909 in Petersham, Sydney, New South Wales.
Thomas was aged about 62 years.

Catherine Florence BYRNE nee O'CONNELL died in 1940 in North Sydney, New South Wales.
Catherine was aged about 82 years.
