The First Generation in Australia

John COULTER  ( Reuben )
John was born about 1792 in Nettlestead, Kent, England.
John was the 2nd of 9 children for  Sarah HOWLETT and Reuben COULTER.

Mary Matilda LANE  was baptised on 25th March 1798 in Ash by Wrotham, Kent, England.

on 12th May 1816
in Wateringbury, Kent, England.

John and Mary had the following children :

1	F	Caroline COULTER  was born on 29th June 1817 in East Peckham, Kent, England. Caroline probably died in East Peckham, Kent, England.
2	F	Mary Ann COULTER  was born on 10th October 1819 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
3	M	John COULTER  was baptised on 8th April 1821 in East Peckham, Kent, England. John died on 1st Febuary 1832 in East Peckham, Kent, England.  John was aged 10 years.
4	M	Richard COULTER  was baptised on 12th December 1824 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
5	M	William COULTER  was baptised on 9th March 1828 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
6	M	Reuben COULTER  was baptised on 9th March 1828 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
7	M	Henry COULTER  was born on 20th August 1831 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
8	M	James COULTER  was born on 22nd July 1832 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
9	F	Sarah COULTER  was born on 21st December 1834 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
10	F	Sophia COULTER  was born on 23rd July 1836 in Kent, England.

John COULTER applied for free passage to South Australia for himself and his family.

John, Mary and 6 children migrated to South Australia on the sailing ship , Charles Kerr.
They sailed on 6th March 1840 from Gravesend, London, England. After almost 15 weeks,
they arrived on 17th June 1840 in Port Adelaide, South Australia.
John was aged about 48 years and Mary was aged about 41 years. The children were William aged about 14 years, Reuben aged about 12 years, Henry aged about 10 years, James aged about 8 years, Sarah aged about 6 years and Sophia aged about 4 years.

Also on board the Charles Kerr were -
Mary Ann COULTER and her son - John's daughter and grandson
Richard COULTER - John's son, aged about 15 years
Thomas COULTER, with his wife and their 6 children - John's younger brother.

John COULTER died  14th August 1875 in Tea Tree Gully, Adelaide, South Australia.
John was buried on 18th August 1875 in Golden Grove Cemetery.  John was aged about 83 years.

Mary Matilda COULTER nee LANE died  on 3rd July 1880 in Tea Tree Gully, Adelaide, South Australia.
Mary was buried on 4th July 1880 in Golden Grove Cemetery.  Mary was aged 82 years.

Second Generation

Mary Ann COULTER  ( John , Reuben )
Mary was born on 10th October 1819 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
Mary applied for free passage to South Australia for herself and her son.
Mary migrated to South Australia with her son, her brother, her parents and 6 younger siblings.
Mary married  William BARKER on 22nd November 1841 in the Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide, South Australia.
Mary and William had the following children :

1	M	William BARKER  was born on 6th March 1842 in Glenelg, Adelaide, South Australia. William was baptised on 11th September 1842 in Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide.
2	M	Henry BARKER  was born on 17th September 1851 in Adelaide, South Australia.
3	M	John BARKER  was born on 29th April 1857 in Upper Dry Creek, South Australia.
4	F	Sophia Jane BARKER  was born on 1st May 1861 in Tea Tree Gully, South Australia. Sophia married  Arthur Samuel WAITES  on 1st December 1881 in the Baptist Church Jamestown, South Australia. Sophia was single and aged 21 years.  Arthur was Widow and aged 34 years.  Arthur was born about 1847.
5	M	Thomas BARKER  was born on 15th April 1863 in Upper Dry Creek, South Australia.
6	F	Agnes Rose BARKER  was born on 22nd April 1866 in Upper Dry Creek, South Australia.

Mary Ann BARKER nee COULTER  died on 10th September 1909 in Adelaide, South Australia.

Richard COULTER ( John , Reuben )
Richard COULTER was baptised on 12 December 1824 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
Richard COULTER applied for free passage to South Australia.
Richard was aged about 15 years, when his parents and 6 younger siblings migrated to South Australia.
Richard COULTER probably arrived with his parents on the Charles Kerr, or maybe he migrated later.

Richard COULTER died on 25 December 1897 near Yorketown, South Australia.

William COULTER ( John , Reuben )
William COULTER was baptised on 9 Mar 1828 in East Peckham, Kent, England.
William married Mary Ann EAST on 3 Sep 1860 in Registry Office, Inverbrackie, South Australia.
William was 34 years of age. Mary was the daughter of James EAST and 16 years of age.
They had the following children :

Henry BARKER was born on 17th September 1851 in Adelaide, South Australia.
Henry married Agnes YOUNGMAN on 22nd April 1895 in the Res of John Waites, Port Pirie, South Australia.
Henry was single and 42 years of age. Agnes was single and 24 years of age. Agnes was born about 1871.
Henry and Agnes had the following children:

Edwin married  Mary Ann WHITING on 21st December 1892 in the Registry Office, Modbury, Adelaide, South Australia.
Edwin was single and aged 21 years.  Mary was single and aged 22 years.
Mary was born about 1870.  Mary was the daughter of  Sarah Ann MORTIMER and Henry WHITING.
Edwin and Mary had the following children :

1	F	Ethel May Sarah COULTER  was born on 28th September 1893 Nr Modbury, Adelaide, South Australia.
2	F	Mary Ann COULTER  was born on 22nd August 1895 in Tea Tree Gully, Adelaide, South Australia. Mary died on 2nd February 1977.  Mary was buried in Ceduna Cemetery.  Mary was aged 81 years.
3	M	Leonard COULTER  was born on 13th January 1898 in Tea Tree Gully, Adelaide, South Australia. Leonard died on 22nd April 1983.  Leonard was buried in Ceduna Cemetery.  Leonard was aged 85 years.
4	M	Edwin Henry COULTER  was born on 12th May 1900 in Wallaroo, South Australia. Edwin died on 14th May 1900 in Wallaroo, South Australia.  Edwin was aged 2 days.
5	M	Arthur Reginald COULTER  was born on 26th May 1901 in Solomontown, Port Pirie, South Australia. Arthur died in Morgan, South Australia.  Arthur was buried in Morgan Cemetery.
6	F	Linda Lottie Francis COULTER  was born on 10th August 1906 in Athelstone, Adelaide, South Australia. Linda died on 7th June 1978 in Port Lincoln, South Australia. Linda was aged 71 years.
7	F	Edna Grace COULTER  was born on 9th June 1909 in Hope Valley, Adelaide, South Australia. Edna died on 13th October 1976.  Edna was buried in Dudley Park Cemetery.  Edna was aged 67 years.
