Second Generation

Richard RIDGWELL ( George )
Richard was born on the 5th January 1846 in Coromandel Valley, Adelaide, South Australia. ~s02

Richard was the 7th of 8 children , 6 boys and 2 girls for Ann Maria RUSH and George RIDGWELL.
Richard's extended family included 4 step brothers and 4 step sisters.

Richard's siblings were John (c1830), George (b1833), James (b1835), Ann Maria COULTER (b1839), Henry (b1841), William (b1844), Elizabeth Sarah RINTOULE (b1847), Emily Maria WADE (c1848), Ellen WADE (b1850), Frederick WADE (b1852), Bessie (c1854), John Frederick (b1855), Jane Louisa (b1857), Charles Alfred (b1859) and Edward George (b1862).

Richard moved to Stawell, Victoria, about 1860. He took up bullock driving for many years, before trying gold mining. He lived for a year on Narracoorte Station. He engaged in a joint business "Rintoule and Ridgwell", as sawmillers, supplying sleepers for the railway.

Louisa Lydia DICKENSON
Louisa was born about 1846 in Maryborough, Victoria.
Louisa was the daughter of Alfred John DICKENSON and Louisa BURTON.

Richard RIDGWELL married Louisa Lydia DICKENSON
on the 8th August 1878
in Stawell, Victoria.

He moved to select 217 acres in 1878 in the Wimmera, close to Nhill.
He commenced business as a Butcher in 1881 in in Nhill.
Later he built another shop and operated both businesses in Nhill.
He purchase the Commercial Hotel in Aug 1889 in in Kaniva.

Richard and Louisa had the following children :

1 F Louisa Phoebe RIDGWELL was born in 1879 in Pleasant Creek, Victoria.
Louisa died on 10th December 1898 in Nhill Hospital, Victoria.
Louisa was buried in Nhill Cemetery. Louisa was aged 19 years.

2 F Ann Maria RIDGWELL was born in 1881 in Pleasant Creek, Victoria.

3 M Alfred George RIDGWELL was born in 1883 in Nhill, Victoria.

4 M Richard Thomas RIDGWELL was born in 1885.

5 F Lydia Adelaide RIDGWELL was born on 30th March 1887 in Nhill, Victoria.

6 F Elizabeth Sarah RIDGWELL was born in 1889.
Elizabeth married ...... CROOKS.

Richard RIDGWELL died on 13th July 1890 in Kaniva, Victoria.
Richard was buried on 15th July 1890 in Nhill Cemetery, Victoria. Richard was aged 44 years.

Louisa Lydia DICKENSON died in 1924 in Perth, Western Australia.
Louisa was buried in the Karrakatta Cemetery.

Ann Maria was born in 1881 in Pleasant Creek, Victoria.
George Manville FENN.
They had the following children :

Alfred George RIDGWELL ( Richard )
Alfred was born in 1883 in Nhill, Victoria.
Alfred married Myrtle Ivy HANTHORNE on 11 Oct 1911 in Norseman, Western Australia.
Myrtle was born on 22 Oct 1893 in Hodgson, Queensland.
Myrtle was the daughter of William Hanthorn CAMPBELL and Jessie GRAVES.
They had the following children :

Alfred George RIDGWELL died on 13 Jan 1946.
Alfred was aged about 62 years.

Myrtle Ivy HANTHORNE died on 23 Apr 1979 in Melville, Western Australia.
Myrtle was aged 85 years.

Richard Thomas RIDGWELL ( Richard )
Richard was born in 1885.
Richard married Florence BROWN.
They had the following children :

Lydia Adelaide RIDGWELL ( Richard )
was born on 30 Mar 1887 in Nhill, Victoria. She died on 12 Jan 1961 in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
Lydia was aged 73 yrs when she died in Kalgoolie.
Lydia married Richard Leslie NETTLE.
They had the following children :
